‘At the time [of the shoot], Sara and I lived in an apartment on the Plateau of Montreal. In preparation for the shoot we cleared out our respective offices and, like a pair of ants, started making trips to the nearby Home Depot and every second hand store within 10 kilometres. Soon our home was full of giant pieces of wood, rolls of wallpaper and astro turf, piles of old irons and hairdryers, red felt, huge photocopies of tiger heads… we were on a mission, and for some reason were not questioning the bizarre assortment of items; they were “textures” or “metaphors,” and they had moved in with us’
